UGA Students Respond to Transportation Fee

According to the UGA Factbook, students at the University of Georgia pay a transportation fee of $118 each semester. A fleet of 20 electric buses was purchased by UGA in Spring of 2019 in hopes of reducing energy costs and helping the environment according to UGA Auxiliary Services. We asked UGA students if they were aware of the transportation fee, if they thought the price of $118 seemed reasonable and if they had used a new electric bus.

Do you know about UGA’s transportation fee?

Yeah, is it included in our tuition?

Do you know how much the fee is?

No.

Does $118 seem reasonable to you?

It seems kind of high I guess but considering that like they have to pay for it and I mean that’s how much it costs. I guess.

Do you use the UGA buses? If so, how often?

Yes, everyday.

Do you feel like your money is being put to good use?

I would say it is but also I feel like we need more buses or just like more routes; something that can consolidate with the number of students we have because it doesn’t match.

Have you heard of UGA’s electric buses?

Yeah, I’ve been on one. I can’t remember if it was last year or when but I remember getting on one.
